I been a naturalizing gardener most of my life. Gardening in the desert has been a huge challenge.
After 15 years, maybe I am getting the hang of it!

The New Mexico Fiber Arts Directory is announcing a new website feature!!!
In order to provide a more personal look into our member fiber artists, we will be publishing in-depth pieces. We believe that this is the time to expand our online role to support New Mexico's Fiber Artists (with a serious approach and a sense of humor!) |

WHAT WE ARE THINKING ABOUT
WRITING
2020
No more days staring at pages of words, written in the Smallest typeset, relaying one sided contractual terms No more rising to rush through office doors, phones Ringing, sales quotas, clients begging to be soothed The transition was difficult, moving, jumping in, volunteering, Buried in work, without the financial rewards Worrying about ruining my reputation that barely exists, In this little river village Letting go of collective dead ends, no more trying to fit in, No more meditative focus on solving other people’s problems Living their solutions in my mind of serious imagination Today’s self inflicted assignments: eat, dance, love well Honor those internal twisting ropes of colors, reds, and golds Images forming shapes, sparkling, flashing, crossing my minds eye Changing so fast there’s barely time for the “Awww” of appreciation The “Awww” of appreciation Sculpted wings pull against an elastic power embedded In my brain, habitual, unrestricted possibilities, the promise of this New Year, a continuum of extremes, I will never again dispute the Revelation that I am the artist -Blanch Almquist |
Sisters (A Thank You)
I walk this earth the way you taught me My face contorts unabashedly joyous laughter I listen intently the way you taught me My heart sings uplifting resonating music I love consistently the way you taught me My soul dances exquisite harmony sisters -Blanch Almquist |
